At the regional seminar last year Mellissa Westhorp one of our Paper Butterfly Demonstrators was given the fantastic opportunity to showcase a technique. Mellissa did a wonderful job with her presentation and the ladies loved her creations. Mellissa had to pick a technique that she would like to show and she chose the Crayon Resist technique. This technique is middle of the range it's not to easy and not to hard but once you get the hang of it, it becomes quite addictive.
To achieve this technique you only need a few supplies; Glossy Cardstock, Ink Pads, Stamps, Sponge, tissue and a Crayon, I like to use a white crayon but any colour will work.
1. Fist off you stamp your image onto the cardstock don't be to heavy handed because it does smudge quite easily, you can use a Staz on Ink as this works well but for a little contrast and colour I like to use coloured ink, make sure it is dry before you begin your next step.
2. Where you would like no colour go around your images with your crayon, to be a little creative you can also doodle on the card stock anywhere you like, there is no right or wrong to this.
3. Next grab a sponge, Stampin Up have fabulous sponges but if you don't have any your normal kitchen sponges will do the trick. Pick up some ink with your sponge and dab onto your card stock in a circular motion. I like to start off on scratch paper first, just so I won't get a big blob of colour in the one spot. You can use just one colour all over for this or you could try contrasting colours to give your project a little bit of POP... but every time you change colour, make sure you pick it up with a clean part of the sponge.
4. Grab a Tissue or Kitchen Towel and lightly buff all over the glossy cardstock, you will notice that where your crayon was this will be coming off and leaving a beautiful crisp white mark.
5. So now you are ready to mount onto your project.
